Plitvice Lakes National Park is a special geological and hydrogeological karst phenomenon. The Plitvice Lakes complex was declared a national park in 1949. It is a wooded mountain area lined with 16 smaller and larger lakes of crystalline blue-green color. They get their water from numerous rivers and streams, and are connected to each other by sparkling cascades and wooded waterfalls. Separated by travertine barriers, for which the period of the last ten thousand years was decisive, is the fundamental peculiarity of the Park. Spacious forest complexes, exceptional natural beauty of lakes and waterfalls, wealth of flora and fauna, mountain air, contrasts of autumn colors, forest paths and wooden bridges and much more are part of an unrepeatable whole that UNESCO also declared a world natural heritage.

The Kornati National Park forms a large part of the Kornati island group in the Croatian part of the Adriatic in central Dalmatia, south of Zadar. It was declared a national park in 1980 and was then placed under protection. The total area of the park is about 220 km² and consists of 89 islands, islets and rocks. Of the surface of the park, only about 1/4 is land, while the remaining part is a marine ecosystem. It is rich in natural and cultural peculiarities. The vertical cliffs of the “crown” of the Kornati islands facing the open sea are the most popular phenomenon of this park. They are also habitats of rare species. The world of the Kornati undersea reveals some other amazing stories. And it is good to know that the mainland part of the Park is privately owned.

A national park is a vast, mostly unaltered area of exceptional and multiple natural values, and includes one or more preserved or slightly altered ecosystems. Its purpose is primarily scientific, cultural, educational and recreational, and tourist activities are in the role of visiting and sightseeing. The “Krka” National Park was proclaimed in 1985. and is the seventh National Park of Croatia. It is located entirely in the Šibenik-Knin County, and covers an area of 109 km2 along the Krka river: two kilometers downstream from Knin to Skradin and the lower Cikola river. With the submerged part of the mouth, it is about 72.5 km long and is the 22nd longest river in Croatia. The Krka river rises at the foot of the Dinara mountain, 3.5 km northeast of Knin, at the foot of the 22 m high, noisy in winter and waterless in summer Topoljska slap, Veliki buk or Krcic slap.

On an area of 96 km2, along the eastern coast of the Adriatic Sea up to the highest peaks of Velebit, Vaganski vrh (1757 m) and Sveto brdo (1753 m), there is an abundance of numerous natural features and phenomena , for which the entire area was declared a national park in 1949. Rightly so, because this is an area of unique and unusual contact between sea and mountain, rich in beech and black pine forests, deep canyons cut vertically into the main ridge of Velebit, karst forms, unique karst relief with numerous caves and pits.

CEROVAC CAVES

Cerovac Caves are located in the southern part of the Velebit Nature Park, four kilometers from Gračac on the road to Knin and are among the most famous and significant speleological objects in Croatia

Art Center & Workshop Celinka – Posedarje

An impressive art center started by amateur sculptor and artist Vinko Kajmak.
A center with handmade art objects made of natural stone and wood was built there.

Sculptures with motifs of Croatian national, religious and life symbols, as well as those inspired by natural light and everyday life, are exhibited outdoors. Almost the entire history of this region can be seen from the monument to the Posedar woman who carries a kaboa of water on her head from the well. And there are no spectacles, only a small church and a few houses built as if in some ancient fairy tale, many sculptures and a garden full of wonders.

Recently, a unique monument of statues on the theme of the Stations of the Cross of devotion was built in memory of the Passion of Jesus, consisting of 14 stations carved out of boulders and representing biblical motifs of the Stations of the Cross, and the tomb of Jesus and Resurrection. 18 sculptors and 3 sculptor colonies worked on this project.

city ZADAR

There are many sights that can be seen in Zadar, due to its long history that goes back to ancient times. Along with many old buildings, some of the sights are:

  • Sea organ

The sea organ, built according to the project architect Nikola Bašić, are recognizable as a specially shaped bank in several rows of stairs that are descending towards the sea. The stairs extend to about seventy meters of the coast, below which, at the level of the lowest sea tide, 35 pipes of different lengths, diameters and inclinations are installed perpendicular to the coast, which rise obliquely to the coastal paving and end in the channel (service corridor). There are LABIUMS (whistles) on the pipes, which play 7 chords of 5 tones. Above the channel are performed stone steps through which sound, air pushed by the sea, comes out.

Salute to the Sun in Zadar, 2008

This place offers a view of the Zadar Canal, otoke and at sunset Sunce, whose beauty is especially famous in Zadar. Salutation to the Sun consists of three hundred multi-layered glass panels placed flush with the stone paving of the waterfront in the form of a circle with a diameter of 22 meters. Under the conductive glass panels, there are photovoltaic solar modules through which symbolic communication with nature is achieved, i.e. with Sun. Simultaneously with the sunset Sun lighting elements installed in the circuit are also included and in a specially programmed scenarij produce an extremely impressive play of light in the rhythm of waves and soundSea organ.
